Design, Web Development, CMS (Big Commerce)

Long time Calgary guitar mecca, melting faces since '87.

Guitarworks has been Calgary's answer to a one stop guitar shop since 1987.

This institution has grown to four locations around the city and finally heeded the call from its loyal customers to bring its catalogue of unique guitars to the world.

Guitarworks was looking for a full refresh. New look and feel for their website and most importantly and online store to serve their hungry customers. They also requested we use the eCommerce CMS system BigCommerce.

I handled the project from beginning to end. Meetings and concept, design, site build and deploy.

Site Tour

Since Guitarworks has called Calgary home for over 30 years, I felt the need to incorporate that connection into the design. Leveraging the skills of Calgary's talented photographers I included gig shots from local venues.

Skipping the stock photography route, we sourced recognizable 'local scene' shots to appeal to local shoppers and show off to the international audience. Guitarworks has helped build Calgary's music scene over the years, why not celebrate it?

Guitarworks loved the idea. Now playing to a world wide audience, Guitarworks has opened a whole new chapter in the companies history.

Guitarworks - Fueling Parties Since '87

At the request of Guitarworks, I built out a custom design on the back of the eCommerce giant BigCommerce. We worked around a few complications and compromises and in the end have a baby smooth backend our client can use to manage inventory, photography, shipping and the business side of the site stress free.
